Want to know about me?
I’m Jack. Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, and later moved to New York City, where I have resided for over 30 years. I can now safely call myself an adopted New Yorker, and I proudly do so.
I am a father to a teenage daughter, who has been my constant and my reason to keep fighting the good fight.
Being from Boston, I am an avid Boston Celtics fan, as well as anything soccer, and you can find me shooting hoops at the local basketball courts or sitting people watching while overlooking the Hudson River. I am also a bit of a geek, having grown up on Superman and DC comics. Passion for me can be found in music, where my taste ranges from jazz to country and everything in between.
I find that movement is the best form of medicine, and I get outside as much as possible. I love to hit the mountain bike trails upstate or walk around the city on mini adventures to discover hidden gems throughout the city.
Where does CPTSD come into play?
I was diagnosed with CPTSD in my early 40’s after years of dealing with regressed trauma that stemmed from sexual abuse from the ages of 5 until I was 9 years old. For the past 10 years, I have been in therapy that has helped me come to terms with and deal with my trauma. During that time, I have learned skills and coping mechanisms, but even then, I still struggle some days to battle my CPTSD.
I’ve started this website as a place to not only hold myself accountable and share my story, but also in the hopes that my story might help others. Maybe even inspire. Importantly, however, it will let people who also suffer from CPTSD know that they are not alone, that there is hope out there, and that things can and will get better.
One day at a time.
