I’m always trying to find ways to keep my mind occupied. The more I do that and the more I stay busy, the less chance I have of falling into negative thinking patterns, so I have started getting back to my doodling.

It’s been quite a few years since I picked up a pen or pencil and sat down to draw something. But I found the Jazzman I had done, that I had created with a simple blue biro pen, and that is what has got me back into doodling.
Art is a family affair.
My daughter is quite the artist, and she is loving that we both share this little hobby. We even went to the art supply store on Friday and picked up a bunch of supplies. As she is now a teenager, it’s not always easy to find things we can do together, but art is one of them, and that makes us both happy.
My late mom was also quite the artist and I think that’s where we get it from. She used to spend hours drawing and painting.

With my love for all things Superman, I quickly threw this together last night. Hand-drawn with thin tip Sharpies. It’s a work in progress, and the more I practice, the more I will get back into a rhythm again. It’s actually amazing how engrossed you can find yourself when you start a new art project. Before you know it, a few hours have passed, and you have created something of substance. Whether it is any good or not is another thing entirely, but being creative is never time wasted. At least I don’t think so. And it’s something I have always instilled in my daughter. I like to think that is why she spends so much time on art projects.
I don’t classify myself as an artist by any means, but it’s something I do enjoy doing, and it keeps my brain busy. So all in all, that is a plus.
